  • Work collaboratively on the four main types of essays most often assigned in high school

  • Receive instruction on effective brainstorming techniques 

  • Learn to create strong outlines

  • Be instructed on how to use creative sentence structure and word choice

ONE SESSION WORKSHOP:

  • Work collaboratively in a group of peers

  • Receive instruction on creating a short outline

  • Learn about the types of prompts found on that specific test 

  • Be instructed on how to answer precisely what the prompt is asking

  • Gain confidence on ACT and/or SAT essay writing

ONE-ON-ONE SESSION:

​In Foundations of Essay Writing, each student will have a tailored one-on-one session (or sessions) that meets each student’s specific needs. These sessions will lead to an increase in usable writing skills and personal confidence. Sessions will be focused on learning any combination of the skills listed below:

  • Learning the four main types of essays most often assigned in high school

  • Receiving instruction on effective brainstorming techniques

  • Learning to create strong outlines

  • Being instructed on how to use creative sentence structure and word choice

  • Receiving instruction on proper MLA formatting
